It must be really exciting to be designing a product that you know is going to become an icon for a whole industry. Ives’ comments about lusting over the product that they are designing really made me envious. I think most designers feel that when they are working on a project, but to have the world agree with you after the fact must really be amazing.

I think what made the ipod stand out over others was it’s simplicity and user interface. That’s what was missing from other mp3 players of that era. (as well as aggressive marketing!)
