Safari 1.3 in OSX 3.9 Update

Over at Surfin’ Safari, Dave Hyatt lays out all of the improvements we get in Safari 1.3, which was included in the latest Mac OSX 3.9 update. One such improvement is a big speed boost over Safari 1.2, which is apparently about 35%.

Safari 1.3 is also nearly identical to “Safari RSS”, which will ship with Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger. (Sans RSS support)

What you are getting is all of the new standards support, new WebKit capabilites, site compatibility fixes and performance optimizations that are also present in Safari 2.0 for Tiger. The layout engines for the two are virtually identical.
