After weeks of rumors due to some leaked information from a FCC filing, the
Tungsten E2 has been officially announced by Palm, and is available for purchase at a price of $250. The E2 looks to be a nice update to the Tungsten E line, offering a 200MHz Xscale processor running PalmOS Garnet (5.4). The E2 uses the same non-volatile flame memory that was introduced in the
Tungsten T5 and
Treo 650 handhelds recently. This type of memory does not lose its contents when the unit’s battery dies, but apparently offers complications in memory-block allocation size, and may have some speed issues. Palm also promises an improved screen in the E2, offering a brighter display with higher saturation. One great addition in my eyes is the inclusion of built in Bluetooth. This makes the E2 an excellent device for business use, as Bluetooth simplifies synchronization and data transfer between devices like cell phones. I’m always excited when I see Bluetooth makes its way down a product line, finding itself in cheaper and cheaper handhelds.
This one is sweet (i wish it had a camera, but i guess with the bluetooth i can go cameraphone to palm easily) I was loving the T5 but the price (was 600$ here, down to 550 i think) is just too much, with the bluetooth in the E2 is is way more plausable. But i am goin to wait and see, i want to see the price of the Palmone Lifedrive/Tungsten X, that thing looks intense but the price tag will probably match it.
