I would just like to share a couple of really exciting products. First off… Sony has done it again by releasing DVD burners that support 4 different formats. The internal DRU-500A and the external DRX-500UL support the DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-RW, and DVD-R formats. Now you don’t have to decide which format you want to use, because you can use them both! IGN Gear covers the story here: http://gear.ign.com/articles/370/370722p1.html

Maxtor has come out with some 15k rpm SCSI hard drives. We are talking average seek times as fast as 3.2 milliseconds, and up to 75 MB per second sustained data rates. Yea… I wish my hard drive did that. The line of hard drives is called the Atlas 15k, and they use Maxtor’s U320 SCSI interface. I just figured out what was wrong with my setup, why the blog wasn’t creating an archive. I have it working now, but this means that any posts before 9-8-02 will eventually be deleted. I will look and see if there is a manual way for me to save the previous posts. If anyone knows how get in touch with me if you want to help me out. My contact information is in the table at the top left of the page.

I’d just like to talk a little bit about a series of books I have been reading for the past couple of months. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series of books by Douglas Adams have got to be the funniest books I have ever read. I am currently at the beginning of the third book in the series…. Life the Universe and Everything. So far the series of books has followed the adventures of an alien named Ford Perfect who’s job is to add entries into The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, a manual on how to survive in the universe. With him is Arthur Dent, a human who was rescued at the last second by Ford Perfect before Earth was blown up by the Volgan race to make way for an interstellar interstate bypass.

The book is nonstop one liners and irony. I have been reading the book in class and sometimes I cannot hold myself from laughing out loud. If you are looking for 5 books to keep you busy and don’t mind poking fun at science fiction (I know some people are real hard core and take it seriously) then you should give the Hitchhiker’s Guide a look.

Project “Lights in Car” is going pretty good so far. I got some neon tubes, just two for now. I mounted a toggle switch in the back of the center console. The lights flash when the music hits… pretty cool stuff. I might put up a tutorial later on, but for now here are a couple of pictures.
